News Pillar (নিউজ পিলার) is a news website from Kolkata, West Bengal. We publish in Bangla and English, so every reader can follow the news in the language they read best. Our motto is Strong news, stronger democracy.
What we cover
Our reporters and editors cover Kolkata, West Bengal and the rest of India, as well as the world, politics, the economy, sports, entertainment, technology, science and health. Alongside our stories you will find live blogs and live video from the ground, breaking news alerts, an e-paper edition, polls, and weather and air quality for Indian cities.
How we work
- Accuracy. Stories written by our team are reviewed by an editor before they are published. When we get something wrong, we correct it openly.
- Fairness. We give the people we report on a chance to respond. We keep news and opinion apart: opinion pieces appear in our Opinion section.
- Credit to sources. Some stories come from news services and other publishers. We name the original source under the headline and link to it.
- Your voice. Readers can comment on our stories. Our moderators check every comment before it appears.
