These terms apply when you use News Pillar at newspillar.live, run by News Pillar, Kolkata, West Bengal, India ("we", "us"). By using the website you agree to them; if you do not agree, please do not use it. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your personal data.

1. Our content

The stories, photos, videos, graphics, e-paper and design of News Pillar belong to us or to those who licensed them to us, and are protected by copyright. You may read and watch them and share links to them for your own non-commercial use, and quote short extracts with credit to News Pillar and a link to the story. You may not copy, republish, sell, frame or broadcast our content, or use it to train artificial intelligence systems, without our written permission.

Some stories come from news services and other publishers. They belong to their owners, and we name the original source under the headline.

2. Information, not advice

We work hard to be accurate, but news develops quickly and mistakes can happen. Our content is for general information and is not legal, medical, financial or other professional advice. Market prices, exchange rates, weather, air quality, prayer times and match scores come from outside sources and may be delayed or wrong; check them before you rely on them.

3. Your account

  • You must be 18 or older, or have your parent's or guardian's consent, to create an account.
  • Your account is for you alone. Give true details, keep your phone and the accounts you sign in with secure, and tell us if you think someone else has used your account.
  • We may suspend or block an account that breaks these terms.

4. Comments and community rules

You are responsible for what you post. Our moderators check comments before they appear, and we may refuse or remove any comment. Do not post anything that:

  • is unlawful, defamatory, obscene or pornographic, or invades someone's privacy;
  • promotes hatred or violence against anyone, including on the grounds of religion, caste, community, gender or language, or threatens the unity, integrity, security or public order of India;
  • harasses, threatens or impersonates anyone, or reveals another person's personal details;
  • you know to be false or misleading;
  • infringes anyone's copyright or other rights;
  • is advertising or spam, or contains viruses or harmful links.

By posting a comment, you allow us to publish and display it on News Pillar free of charge. You keep whatever rights you have in it. If you see a comment that breaks these rules, use its report button.

5. Polls and reactions

You may vote once in each poll and react once to each story. Poll results show what our readers chose; they are not scientific surveys.

6. Newsletters and alerts

Newsletters and breaking news alerts are free and optional. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter through the link in every email, and turn off alerts in your browser's settings.

7. Live video and e-paper

Live video and the e-paper are for personal viewing. Do not record, rebroadcast or redistribute them without our written permission.

8. Advertising and other websites
