Mahindra Auto recently launched the XUV3XO ZNG in the country and we drove it in Mumbai last month at the media drive. Mahindra promised that XUV3XO ZNG will not differ much from the Bharat NCAP safety ratings of non-CNG Petrol-Only XUV3XO. Within a month of that promise, Mahindra has delivered.
XUV3XO ZNG Bharat NCAP crash ratings are out and it scores exactly the same as the Petrol-only model. The additional weight of the CNG and all the structural modifications to the platform to accommodate the dual-cylinder CNG storage solution has not affected XUV3XO’s basic crash performance in any way.
XUV3XO ZNG Bharat NCAP Crash Test
Bharat NCAP crash testing agency has just published the crash testing results of Mahindra XUV3XO ZNG and it is now the latest vehicle in India to score the prestigious 5 Star crash safety rating. XUV3XO ZNG comes with over 35 standard safety features including 6 airbags, ISOFIX mounts, ESC and even dedicated CNG safety features.
With this achievement, Mahindra XUV3XO ZNG becomes India’s first Sub 4m CNG SUV to achieve this milestone. Where ratings are concerned, XUV3XO ZNG was subjected to Bharat NCAP’s usual crash testing norms and it scored 29.3 / 32 points in adult occupant protection and 45 / 49 points in child occupant protection.
On Bharat NCAP’s website, Mahindra XUV3XO ZNG is not listed as a separate car which underwent a crash test. Instead, the crash performance results of XUV3XO are extended to ZNG variants as well. The PM CG MT CNG Family which now gets 5 Star crash safety rating include MX1, MX2, MX Edge, REVX Edge (O), AX5 and REVX A.
Mahindra XUV3XO ZNG comes equipped with dual-cylinder CNG storage solution that ensures that boot space is not compromised like it usually happens in a single-cylinder solution. It is commendable that Mahindra has also retained the spare wheel under the body and then the same performance as non-CNG Petrol-only counterpart.
