The highly pathogenic avian influenza was identified on Monday (November 2), affecting poultry and bird keepers in the Borders.

Authorities have established 3km and 10km control zones around the outbreak area, where keepers must update their details or register on the Scottish Kept Bird Register by Friday, November 13.

The 3km protection zone has been put in place between Biggar, Skirling and Broughton, while the wider control zone extends to cover parts of South Lanarkshire, Blyth Bridge and Dolphinton.

This applies to chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese, pigeons, and birds of prey.

Registration can be completed online at keptbirdregister.service.gov.scot or by calling 01466 405101.
