Rahul Gandhi shared a video of Amit Shah's contrasting remarks on a parliamentary debate on SIR.
NEW DELHI: Leader of opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, urged home minister Amit Shah to convince Prime Minister Narendra Modi to have a debate with him on special intensive revision (SIR) of voter rolls in the Parliament. He also shared a video of Shah's contradicting statments over SIR discussion inside the House, asking him not to "confuse" the prime minister with such remarks. "Amit Shah ji, don't confuse Modi ji. Just convince him to have an open debate with me. Any platform, any time. Don't be afraid," Rahul said in post on X.

In the video, Shah could be heard taking two different stance on SIR debate in Parliament. On December 10, 2025, while replying to Rahul Gandhi's accusations of "vote chori" in Parliament, Shah had said that discussion on SIR cannot take place inside the House as the matter came under the EC, which is an independent body. On November 5, 2026, Shah said that the government was ready to call for a special Parliament session to discuss SIR. "If you (Rahul Gandhi) wish to engage in a responsible discussion—if your concerns hold truth, substance, and logic—then come and discuss them inside Parliament. Let’s face each other head-on! But you won’t be able to handle the answers; as always, you will just run away," Shah said at a rally in Karnal, Haryana. Rahul Gandhi has called for an open debate with PM Modi, claiming he could prove within five minutes that the PM was a "deshdrohi" (traitor).
