The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on Thursday (November 5, 2026) successfully flight-tested the indigenously developed quasi-ballistic missile Pralay from Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the Odisha coast. The successful trial paved the way for its imminent induction into the armed forces.
According to Ministry of Defence, the missile was test-fired at around 11.10 a.m. as part of user evaluation trials. All test objectives were fully met, as confirmed by data captured through various range instruments deployed by the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur, the Defence Ministry said.
The missile has been indigenously developed by the Research Centre Imarat (RCI), Hyderabad, along with other DRDO laboratories. Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), one of the development-cum-production partners, has manufactured the missile system, it added.
The flight test was witnessed by senior DRDO officials, representatives from the defence industry and the armed forces as part of the user evaluation process. With the successful completion of the trial, the induction of the missile into the armed forces has become imminent, the Ministry said.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO, the armed forces and industry partners on the successful test. He said the missile, equipped with advanced technologies, would further enhance the technological capabilities and operational preparedness of the military to deal with emerging threats.
Defence Secretary and DRDO Chairman Rajesh Kumar Singh also congratulated the teams associated with the successful flight test.
