David Ornstein has reported Manchester United’s stance on sacking Michael Carrick as the first-team manager, as the Red Devils prepare to take on Aston Villa at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Man Utd may have won against AS Roma in the Champions League in midweek, but that does not eclipse the fact that they have been a disaster all season.
The Red Devils have picked up only seven points from nine matches and are currently in the Premier League bottom three.
Man Utd will take on Villa at home in the league on Sunday.
Unai Emery’s side are in better form and will fancy their chances of picking up all three points against the Red Devils.
While Man Utd have maintained their faith in Carrick for now, doubts remain on whether the Englishman could turn around the team’s fortunes.

The Athletic journalist Ornstein has reported that Man Utd co-owners INEOS plan to stick with Carrick.
The reliable and trusted journalist does not seem overly sure that Man Utd will sack Carrick even if the team suffer a bad result against Villa at Old Trafford.
Man Utd sticking with Michael Carrick
Ornstein said on NBC Sports: “I think the truth here at Old Trafford is that they do want Michael Carrick to succeed.
“If they wanted to remove him and make a change, I think they would’ve already done it by now and found an interim solution.
“And with that result in midweek against Roma, there was a bit of improved spirit, and let’s see what happens against Villa today.

“Think the truth is, there isn’t a firm plan here at Old Trafford for what to do if they were to make a change.
“No doubt they would’ve had conversations with representatives in recent weeks, and they’ll have more time to do so over the international break.
“A disastrous result today and maybe you think there will be a change, but as things stand, they’re continuing with Michael Carrick.
“I don’t know of a clear alternative plan.”
Carrick himself has said that he does not know whether Man Utd will stick with him after the international break.
The Man Utd manager said: “No, no. Just carry on as absolute normal.
“Maybe three or four senior players will be in and around [the training ground], but we’ll certainly train next week and maybe have the weekend off.
“We’ll see how that develops, who’s left behind, who’s with us and what they need. But there’ll certainly be training next week.
“Whatever happens, what’s going to happen is going to happen in terms of the game (against Villa), and we’ve got to prepare right, looking forward to it.
“I said the other night I was really looking forward to the game going into it, I genuinely was. I wasn’t making anything up there for you.
“Playing at home on the back of the other night, the supporters hopefully looking forward to coming and energised and feeling good about what they might see.
“And we’ve got to repay that.”
