Gurnoor Brar has picked up the wicket of Tom Latham. Here, it was a poor shot selection from Latham; he tried to pull the ball on leg-side, which was way outside the off-stump and ended up getting caught at square-leg. Poor from Latham. He did all the hard work while he was in the middle and, in the end, will be disgusted by how that innings came to an end.

Shubman Gill has dropped a chance here. Mitchell crumbled under pressure came down the track and tried to whack the ball on the leg-side and got the leading edge which went high in the air, and Gill at mid-off dropped a simple one. That could have put New Zealand in further trouble. India would hope Mitchell won't make them pay here.

Daryl Mitchell has batted well here. Usually, he tends to not miss out on too many occasions in this format of the game but he did on the previous game. Today he has batted well and looked in pretty solid touch and New Zealand will need his runs for them to put on a good total and Tom Latham also needs to chip in with a good innings.

The sun is out now here in Wellington. Batting will get easier once the moisture on the surface dries out, but the Kiwis have already lost three wickets, so they have to play catch-up. These two, Tom Latham and Daryl Mitchell are pretty experienced players and what they need to here is spend time in the middle bat till around the 20th over mark and take it from there.

The bowling has been pretty tidy from India. Once again nothing magical about it hitting the hard-lenghts and bowling around that fourth-stump channel and waiting for those mistakes from the batters to come and that is the best mode of operation when there is so much help for bowlers. Sometimes bowlers tend to push too much for the wicket, looking for that magic ball end up losing the script.

A dismissal for these conditions: the ball is stopping a bit, and Nicholls could not adjust to the pace of the surface, and the ball went on to the stumps. That was a pretty good delivery from Nabi; it was around the fourth stump channel, which Young seemed to have wanted to guide it towards the third man and it ended up edging to keeper Rahul. The ball is not coming off from Nabi, and the lines he is hitting are quite superb this morning; the conditions are extremely conducive to his bowling.

What the moisture in the pitch is doing is that it is not letting the ball zing through the surface. Every delivery, the batter is waiting that fraction of a second. The good thing though from the batting perspective there is not a lot of seam and swing on offer from batting perspective it is just the pace of the delivery which is not ideal. Auqib Nabi has picked up the first wicket here, and it is Seifert the batter who got undone by Nabi. The delivery did seem like it was stuck a bit in the surface while Young tried to work the ball on the leg-side. He got the leading edge and carried it to the mid-off fielder. Early breakthrough here for India; they would keep chipping at the wickets in helpful conditions.

[On what he was most pleased about with the bowling performance] The boys reacted to the conditions. It’s quite a rush, after the toss again to get ourselves going. But for me, just sort of, just taking the dimensions out, and the guys just executed the plan quite well, which is pretty good. I think over here in New Zealand, sometimes the fields will tell you what to bowl, but still you need to get the ball in the right areas. [On the general discussions within the group regarding pitches and ground dimensions] I try to keep it more individual sort of based. We'll have a group sit down in terms of what we potentially can expect. But all our guys are differently skilled. So for me it's more tapping into those guys individually at training and warm-ups, and then sort of just a quick chat. They are all skillful. They know their game, they know how to go about their things, it's just aligning all those small little things.
