Samsung has been actively developing another pair of Galaxy Buds for quite some time, and these ones appear to feature an ear-hook design. That makes them a good fit for those who don’t want their earbuds slipping out during workouts. Well, there’s good news for them: the Galaxy Buds T1 have now cleared a key milestone ahead of their US launch.

Galaxy Buds T1 receive FCC approval

After appearing in multiple other certification databases, Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Buds with an ear-hook design (codename: T1) have received FCC approval (via Android Authority). These earbuds carry the model number SM-R545 and are internally known as Galaxy Buds Canal 5.

The documents also mention a T1 Cable and T1 Project, along with a charging case carrying the model number EP-QR545. During laboratory testing, the earbuds achieved a Bluetooth range of more than 14.5 meters. The case, meanwhile, uses a 5V charging input.

More importantly, the filing includes images of the earbuds during testing and a technical drawing of their charging case. These offer another look at Samsung’s unusual ear-hook design, which should help keep the earbuds securely in place during physical activities.

A recent report also suggested that these ear-hook-style Galaxy Buds may actually be called Galaxy Buds Active. The name does make sense, especially considering their workout-and-gym-focused approach. That said, Samsung hasn’t announced anything of the sort yet.

Having said that, the FCC filing suggests Samsung will bring these earbuds to the US, whether they’re called Galaxy Buds Active or something else. When they’ll launch remains another mystery. Separately, we have also detailed some of the upcoming features of these earbuds too.
